Our Freedom & Flow project has grown into something truly special, becoming far more than just a movement class. It’s now a thriving community where people feel safe to express themselves, connect with others, and improve their well-being. Freedom & Flow Movement Community
Each session starts with a wellness circle, led by a trained counsellor. This powerful opening allows participants to reflect on their week, share negative thoughts, and turn them into positive affirmations. These affirmations are then placed on our community wall — a constant reminder of strength, resilience, and personal growth. This simple yet impactful ritual has become a key part of the Freedom & Flow experience, helping participants feel seen, supported, and valued.
The Flow Arts movement practice itself — using props like poi, rope dart, and dragon staff — has been a game-changer for so many people. For some, it’s a fun way to get active; for others, it’s a vital tool for managing anxiety, stress, or neurodivergent challenges. The rhythmic, meditative nature of Flow Arts helps calm the mind, build focus, and boost confidence.
We’ve seen participants come out of their shells, form new friendships, and develop skills they never thought possible. For some, Freedom & Flow has been their first social activity in years — a huge step towards feeling connected again.
However, this support is only possible because we’ve worked hard to keep sessions free. Around 70% of our group simply couldn’t attend if there were costs involved, especially given the current financial climate. This is why we’re so determined to secure funding — to ensure Freedom & Flow remains a space where people can find joy, connection, and support without barriers.
The impact has been incredible, but there’s so much more we can do. With your support, we can expand, welcome more people into our community, and continue changing lives through movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connections.
