This past weekend, we had the incredible honour of running workshops and performing at the magical Youphoria Festival at Fellfoot Woods - Windermere.
In the spirit of transparency, I wanted to share something personal. Recently, I lost my grandmother, who has been a guiding force in my life for as long as I can remember. She raised me to be strong, independent, compassionate, and to always fight for justice. Her passing has been deeply felt, and her funeral coincided with the opening ceremony of Euphoria Festival.
As difficult as it was, something stirred in me after her celebration. I knew I needed to head to the Lakes, and it turned out to be exactly what my soul needed.
Just an hour before we were set to leave, Nicky had a family emergency and couldn’t make it. However, my sister, who was visiting from Australia for the funeral, joined me, and what unfolded was an incredibly healing journey for both of us.
My sister, the dog, and I set off on a road trip to the Lakes, arriving just before sunset. We set up the trailer tent and wandered into the Glade, where the music and the vibrant sky felt like the perfect close to such a meaningful day. It was as if the universe had orchestrated it all.
The next day, after a hearty breakfast, we explored the enchanting site—dipping pools, hidden labyrinths, and a thousand-year-old Yew tree, brimming with magic that words can’t fully capture. We experienced yoga, breathwork, feminine embodiment, and aerial yoga, before hosting our mindful “I Am” bracelet workshop. The turnout was wonderful, with both adults and children embracing the idea of creating something that reflects their inner power. We saw affirmations like “I am kind,” “I am loved,” “I am fierce,” and “I am focused” woven into each bracelet, a beautiful reminder of self-empowerment.
As evening fell, we took part in a cacao ceremony—a truly profound healing experience for us both. I am so grateful to Joe Mugan for creating such a safe and sacred space for us to immerse ourselves in the moment.
Later that night, I had the opportunity to share my own form of meditation: Flow Arts. I performed several tracks with my fire props in front of an encouraging and supportive crowd, which was an unforgettable experience.
Sunday brought more healing and connection with nature. We started the day with a nature walk and a dip in the pools, followed by aerial yoga and forest bathing. We hosted another workshop in the mushroom tent, where we crafted dreamcatchers with children and adults alike. As the sun shone brightly, we headed to the lake, paddle boards in hand, soaking up every last drop of sunshine before the day drew to a close.
The weekend ended with an empowering drum circle, where we sat together in gratitude for the space that had been created for us to process and heal. Words can’t quite capture the magic that fills Fellfoot Woods, but my heart is overflowing with love and appreciation for Hannah and Barry, who welcomed us into their beautiful sanctuary.
